Billionaire to pay $10.25 million plus $100,000 per month to support ex-wife's child
Billionaire Kirk Kerkorian agreed Friday to pay more than $10 million in back child support plus $100,000 a month for a child his ex-wife has admitted is not his biological daughter.
Lisa Bonder Kerkorian, who was married briefly to the casino mogul after a long relationship, acknowledged during a child support battle that she had faked a DNA paternity test by using saliva she obtained from Kerkorian's adult daughter. She said the biological father actually was Hollywood movie producer Stephen Bing.
Michael Trope, the attorney for Bonder Kerkorian, filed the settlement Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court. He declined to comment. Kerkorian's lawyer, Joseph Mannis, did not immediately return a phone call from The Associated Press.
Kira Kerkorian is now 12, and court papers have said that she has known for quite some time that she has "two papas." Kerkorian, 93, has had joint custody of the girl, who lives with her mother.
The settlement, which provides $100,000 a month until Kira turns 19 or until she graduates from high school, no longer is a full-time student or no longer is living with her mother full-time. After that, the settlement says, the child support will be reduced to $50,000 a month.
The agreement also provides for Kerkorian to pay expenses including school costs, equestrian expense, clothing, housing, travel, hobbies, automobile, food, beauty treatments, tutoring, entertainment, parties and pets.
Bonder Kerkorian, 45, a former tennis pro, was married to Kerkorian for 28 days in 1999. They had been romantically linked for years. Kerkorian, once the majority shareholder of what is now MGM Resorts International, is the legal father of the child because the couple married.
The legal battle over child support between Kerkorian and his ex-wife has been going on since 2002. Bonder Kerkorian originally sought $320,000 a month in alimony and child support. The current agreement includes no alimony. Click the link below for the entire news story:

Hurt on the job...Now what? (Part 1)
Dealing With Your Employer
Most employers do not like to pay workers' compensation premiums, but they understand that they want to have protection and insurance for their workers injured on the job. Employers generally are fearful of workers who have been injured on the job because they feel their premiums will increase or the employee will take advantage of the benefits available. Most employers are generally concerned for workers who are injured on the job and want to ensure that the injured worker receives care. Unfortunately, there are some employers who are not concerned with these things and this may present problems for the injured worker. An employer can either help or hinder an employee's case and this is especially true at the very beginning. The more aware you make your employer of the injury and the facts surrounding the accident or injury, the more inclined the employer will be to help the injured worker with the case. On the other hand, if the employer is not concerned about reporting the accident or ensuring benefits are paid or suspect of the injury, the employer may not give good information to the insurance company or may slant the information so that the insurance company is suspect of the claim and delays payment of benefits while they investigate the claim thoroughly. Some employers who are hostile may attempt to intimidate or coerce the injured worker for filing a claim. This can result in all types of problems for the injured worker and the injured worker may be able to sue the employer who retaliates or coerces him because he has filed a claim for workers' compensation benefits. Generally speaking, an employer has a duty to post notices of your legal rights under the workers' compensation law and advise with this posting that injured workers have the right to receive medical benefits and other indemnity benefits if they are injured on the job. They are also required to provide the name of the insurance company and provide medical care when notified of an injury on the job. It is always better if you try to communicate with your employer concerning the facts of the accident, the medical situation, and the problems you are encountering as a result of any injury or disability. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 22-year-old woman charged with shaking her baby to death has pleaded guilty to a charge of second-degree murder and faces 25 to 50 years in prison.Alexandra Tobias was arrested on charges of aggravated child abuse and murder after her 3-month-old son, Dylan Lee Edmondson, died in January. Prosecutors said Tobias admitted to becoming angry because the baby would not stop crying while she was playing Farmville on Facebook, Local 6 news partner WJXT reported."He's only 14 weeks old; he's not breathing," Alexandra Tobias frantically told a 911 operator.Shortly after that 911 call was made, Tobias told investigators a dog knocked her child off a couch, he hit his head and he stopped breathing. Court documents show that Tobias later admitted to shaking her baby violently because the 3-month-old would not stop crying while she was playing a game on Facebook.Prosecutors said they also have a statement from a cellmate who said Tobias confessed to her."I asked her 'What you here for?' and she said, 'Murder,'" inmate Lois Hay said. "I said, 'Murder? Who, who did you murder?' She said, 'I my murdered my baby, my own baby.' And I was, like, 'Why did you do that?' She said she shook her baby and during the shaking of the baby, the baby hit his head on the computer."In recorded telephone calls Tobias made to family members, she said the recent death of her mother affected her psychological state, and it may have been a contributing factors to her aggression on the night of her son's death."Ever since I found my mother dead, I just haven't been the same," Tobias said.

The Color Purple --- Overshadowed during the Month of October
October is many things to many people. For Southerners its the time when the seasons truly begin to change. We feel a slight chill in the night and morning air, and the leaves begin to change turn into their fabulous fall hues. Children are excited about the Scary Holiday celebrated with fun and delight!
This year the strong and fearless NFL professionals adorned pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Remembering their loved ones that have been affected by the disease. Raising awareness through education and by fundraising to bring about a cure. I noticed a lot of pink. It actually added a little extra "something" to the League. Nice to see, nice to have such big support.
However, to my disappointment, I saw very little purple. The color of royalty. The color of valor only a brave soldier can receive. Culturally, the color purple has always been perceived as a rich, deep color representing something of status and importance. So, I wondered, why so little purple?
October is also National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The color of choice.....Purple. No purple ribbons adorned by many. No purple bows displayed with pride. No purple....but plenty of pink. Don't get me wrong, I support Cancer Awareness. I have family members who are survivors. But I also have family members who are survivors of Domestic Violence.
It was always puzzling to me to see the outcry against a football player for abusing his animal, but to see another's abuse of his wife swept under the rug. It was not surprising however, to see the justice system so zealously try to make an example of this man who abused his animal and to see him be punished more severely than a man who abuses his wife.
I chuckle when I hear people say subjects like family abuse are private and need to stay in the home. That it doesn't affect them. I guess ignorance really is bliss. They seem not to make the connections. You know the connections that most perpetrators of crime were actually child victim witnesses of domestic violence. But I guess crime doesn't affect everyone. You know the connections, that the same person who abuses their spouse and believes they need to stay in their place are the same abusers who are their coworkers; the same abusers who just married one of their family members; the same abusers who work in law enforcement; the same abusers who write legislation; and the same abusers who sit on a bench and interpret the laws. But no, I guess, that doesn't affect everyone.
South Carolina is currently ranked 9th in the nation for men murdering women. Domestic violence knows no status, gender, age or race. It has no respect of person. It just is.....
As I am passionate about advocating against the disease of Domestic Violence...I choose to wear purple year round. I am asking you to do the same.......so that so many won't have to wear their color purple with black and blues...........
