After graduating law school and coming back home to South Carolina, I had the distinct honor and privilege of appearing before and speaking with the Honorable Jamie Murdock. He was an "old school" judge that believed in both swift justice with a kind hand. Although probably not known to him, it was he, along with another family court judge, who made me decide to continue to focus on family law as I continued to practice.
At a client hearing in Marlboro County, I was told about his recent bout with pancreatic cancer, and how he and his family were prayerful about his recovery. I too became one of those prayer warriors. I am sad today, to report that such an honorable man has lost his battle. My prayers go out to his family, as I will always remember Judge Murdock, Family Court Judge, Fourth Judicial Circuit, South Carolina.
